My name is Gordon Barker. I’m a molecular biologist PhD and serial entrepreneur, having helped found several University spin out companies.
Along the way, I’ve picked up an MBA from Manchester Business School and a fair amount of experience in building exciting high-growth businesses. My interests outside of work include: family; a love of the outdoors; a black belt in TaeKwonDo and being a member of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team (I’m chairman of KMRT – one of the busiest search and rescue teams in the UK).
I founded Biotechnology BD in 2011, to provide business development support to early-stage life science ventures and start-up companies. The company has access to a wide range of industrial expertise, professional advisors and leading academics who can be brought in to assist on any particular assignment.
In 2023 we were joined by Rita Dobmeyer. Rita is a strategic development specialist with a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry. She is the MD of CRO Galenus, has a wide-ranging contact network across a number of sectors outside of the life sciences and brings a wealth of international business experience to the team.
We run a flexible business model: we’re happy to work on a straight fee-for-service consultancy basis, but are also willing to consider ‘at risk’ projects if resources are particularly tight and where we feel the opportunity has sufficient potential.
